“NAGPUR has the potential of becoming a hub for the IT companies & the entry of TCS in the region has signification role to play in MIHAN.” Said N Chandrasekaran, Chief Executive officers & Managing Director of the company. The company would be benefited from the large number of engineering collages located in Nagpur, He added.
After completion of the first phase of TCS Nagpur Campus, it will occupy more than 8,000 software professional.
This would create huge job opportunities for the engineering students of the region. However, when asked weather TCS would give preferences to local candidates, Chandrasekaran, defined any such special concession to the regional talent. “We recruit candidates purely on merit basis. How ever, looking at the Qualility engineering colleges in & around Nagpur, the chances of recruiting local people look bright, “he said.
Talking to media persons on Monday, S Mahalingam, chief Financials officers & Executive Director, said the project would be completed within next 24 months & about 60 per cent of the materials required for the construction will be procured at the local level.
Commenting on the second phase, Mahalingam said size of the second phase will same as that of the first phase. But the company has yet finalise the date of starting second phase.
